Food and Wine Combinations - let's begin with Sauvignon Blanc
We are going to use this blog to provide you all with a little assistance when selecting a wine to go with a certain food type. Of course, many of you may choose your favourite tipple regardless of what you are eating. For those of you who wish to see what effect choosing a specific wine makes to your enjoyment of a particular dish, keep reading. Not only will it help you at home, it will also help you choosing wines in restaurants.
So, Sauvignon Blanc. Wines made from this grape are generally light to medium-bodied and acidic with grassy and green flavours. A useful tip I picked up is 'If it’s a dish you might squeeze a little lime on, you might consider Sauvignon Blanc'
Ideally pair with delicately flavoured foods, herby or slightly acidic foods such as springtime dishes, soups, fish, and poultry dishes. Asparagus in particular goes well with a citrusy Sauvignon as does a fresh fruit salad.
Dishes to avoid are buttery dishes, red meat and overly salty foods. They will overpower the delicate flavour of the wine.
Take a look at our range of Sauvignon Blanc, many of which come with more specific food matches.
